CORVID-19 is still here and you are asked to be safe whilst out in the North West of Scotland. Current restrictions have been relaxed recently. Even so, please do not go out in the area if you are showing signs of Corvid-19. When out paddling or hillwalking make sure you give people space - 1m at least and preferable 2m. Remember that if it feels too crowded then you can walk away and try somewhere else; the environment will still be there tomorrow. Also remember the emergency services, the RNLI and the MRT. They will come out to rescue you but they should not have to put themselves into danger from this virus.

Take Care Out There.

Arkle is a much smaller and more shapely hill than the towering neighbour often seen in the background, Foinaven. Still set in the same remote area of North West Scotland but shorter to climb. The hill is still rocky in the upper reaches.

On the outfall of Loch Stack there is a bridge over the river near to the A838 with a car park.

Follow the track around the top of Loch Stack to Lone and then continue up the stalkers path alongside the ravine. Towards the top there is a stream coming down from Meall Aonghas. Here follow the steep sloped to reach Meal Aonghas itself, and then further up the slopes to .758. This is the start of the Arkle ridge. Follow this rocky ridge for 1km to reach the main summit. the ridge is rocky and care needs to be taken. (6.5kms. 750m. 3hrs. 30min.)

The reurn is by the uphill route. First back along the ridge then down the steep slopes to meet the stalkers path and folling that back to Loch Stack. (6.5kms. 0m. 2hrs. 0min.)
