CORVID-19 is still here and you are asked to be safe whilst out in the North West of Scotland. Current restrictions have been relaxed recently. Even so, please do not go out in the area if you are showing signs of Corvid-19. When out paddling or hillwalking make sure you give people space - 1m at least and preferable 2m. Remember that if it feels too crowded then you can walk away and try somewhere else; the environment will still be there tomorrow. Also remember the emergency services, the RNLI and the MRT. They will come out to rescue you but they should not have to put themselves into danger from this virus.

Take Care Out There.

distance : 4.0km.
ascent : 550m.
time taken : 2hr. 20min.

Stac Pollaidh cannot be missed. It stands seperate from any surrounding hills and grows magnificently from the valley floor. It is an obviously steep hill with the top rocks looking near vertical. in fact from the south, the road side, the hill looks impregnable. There is a good walk around the hill and from the far side there is a slight chink in the armour. The final scramble (or climb) to the summit is as hard as anything on the UK mainland. not for the faint hearted.

There is a large car park on the side of the minor road that runs under Stac Pollaidh, about 8km from the main A835.

Cross the road from the car park and take the path left, clockwise, around the hill. At the back there is an obvious col. Make your way to the col. Once at the col turn right, west, along the ridge. There is some serious scrambling along the ridge to the summit of the hill marked by a cairn.(2.0kms. 550m. 1hrs. 50min.)

The descent to the circular path is via the uphill route which is very difficult. Descend to the col on the ridge, and from here down the gully to reach the path. Continue round the circular path clockwise, returning to the road and car park.(2.0kms. 0m. 0hrs. 40min.)
