CORVID-19 is still here and you are asked to be safe whilst out in the North West of Scotland. Current restrictions have been relaxed recently. Even so, please do not go out in the area if you are showing signs of Corvid-19. When out paddling or hillwalking make sure you give people space - 1m at least and preferable 2m. Remember that if it feels too crowded then you can walk away and try somewhere else; the environment will still be there tomorrow. Also remember the emergency services, the RNLI and the MRT. They will come out to rescue you but they should not have to put themselves into danger from this virus.

Take Care Out There.

A big name for a relatively small hill! Situated in the Reay Forest there are good views over this remote area of North West Scotland. There is little in the way of access paths. But the southern slopes make for reasonable walking compared to the steeper and rockier northern aspect to this hill.

Park at the roadside on the A835 just SW from the end of Loch More.

From the bridge follow the road to Aultannrynie and then the stalkers path a short distance up the hillside. Where the path stops it is just up the ridge, maybe find the odd track but largely unpathed up the meallan Liath beag to reach the main west - east ridge. This is followed west to reach the summit and it's trig point. Hills with a trig point invariably have a good view and here is no exception, over the remote Raey Forest. (7.5kms. 750m. 3hrs. 40min.)

It is possible to return by making directly to the uphill stalkers path. The crossing of the Allt an Reinidh is steep and potentially wet. probably best to return by the uphill route. Retrace your footsteps to find the end of the stalkers path and then to the road and back to the roadside. (7kms. .50m. 2hrs. 10min.)
